ODILE DECQ INTERVIEW
Odile Decq: "I rebel against the fact that I have to build boxes. I rebel against the fact that women are not sufficiently represented in architecture. I rebel against an architectural education that is not adapted to the 21st century. I rebel against a lot of different things. I was born a rebel. It is my nature."
FOCUS ON COLOUR IN ARCHITECTURE
There is little to beat colour when it comes to immediacy in an architectural design. Colour is often the first thing to strike the eye when you view the exterior or interior of a building, particularly if that colour is a bold one. It stays engraved in your memory; you refer to that red or yellow building, to that blue hall or orange corridor. And colour is especially effective as a medium of expression.
The interiors of several projects involving the use of floors and furniture surfacing from Forbo Flooring are included as a form of inspiration. The projects are located in various parts of the world and show the many possibilities provided by Forbo's products.
CREATING BETTER ENVIRONMENTS
The colours, materials and textures of the Swedish Kronanbacken houses are inspired by the barren, rocky pine forest of Ormberget behind the houses. The materials of the walls, floors and ceilings were carefully evaluated with respect to environment, quality of housing and economy. Linoleum flooring was a natural choice in this context.
