JULIAN SCHUBERT INTERVIEW
"It was a time of fundamental rethinking," says Julian Schubert, "so the questions of systemic relevancy were everywhere. We thought, let’s look critically at our profession, let’s look at what we have learned and find out how we, with that knowledge and that set of tools, can engage in the current discussions. And let’s also free ourselves from what we have been through at the university, about how architects practice."
FOCUS ON HYBRID SPACES
There is a serious shortage of space, especially in cities. That is why it makes sense to strive for a more intensive use of the available spaces. Besides urban planning and economics, much is to be gained from ecological considerations: if you combine functions, or if you utilize the available space for most of the day, there will be less need for additional building.
FORBO FLOORING SYSTEMS HIGHLIGHT
A black box bursts apart from within and teeters on the edge of collapse. It is an edifice that triggers associations with the Kaaba of Mecca or with Malevich's Black Square.
