The Masurian Center for Biodiversity and Nature Education KUMAK, part of Warsaw University, consists of two buildings in Urwitałt, one for environmental education and the other for research. The buildings, both committed to protecting biodiversity through education, are prefabricated externally with reinforced concrete elements. Modern technical solutions in the buildings include capillary tube mats, ground-source heat pumps, photovoltaic installations and a grey water system. For the interiors, materials meet sustainability criteria such as reclaimed wood cladding on the walls. Vast floor areas are finished with Marmoleum. An intense greenery infuses one building, and brown shades of Marmoleum pervade the other, corresponding to colours and patches in the natural surroundings. The realised project won several awards.Forbo floorings durability, functionality, colour and design pallet provided the ideal solution to all these requirements.
